In recognition of Fire Prevention Month, members of the Cordova Volunteer Firemen’s Association visited Chapel District Elementary School to talk fire safety with the school’s Pre-K and Kindergarten students.
Our volunteers spent time with CDES’s youngest “Cheetahs,” sharing age-appropriate fire safety tips and answering their questions. Visits like this help children feel comfortable around firefighters and give them the knowledge to stay safe at home.
Chapel District Elementary shared their thanks on Facebook afterward, noting that experiences like these “help build awareness, strengthen relationships, and connect our students” with the people who serve their community.
We’re grateful to the CDES teachers and staff for welcoming us, and to the students for being such great listeners. Fire and life safety education is an important part of our mission, and partnerships with local schools help keep Cordova safe.
